Elder Care Options, LLC was formed in January 2004 by Patty Masterson-Kane and Patty Hemphill.  Both home care social workers, they saw first hand how overwhelming the process of planning to meet changing care needs could be for the elderly and their families.  Their desire to provide guidance and education, so families could develop the best possible plan, resulted in the formation of Elder Care Options.

Patty Masterson-Kane graduated from Adelphi University with a Masters Degree in Social Work.  She also holds a Post Masters Certificate in Family Therapy from Hunter College.  In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both New Jersey and New York, Ms. Masterson-Kane is a certified alcoholism and substance abuse counselor.  Ms. Masterson-Kane's previous employment includes St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center where she was supervisor of the Family Therapy Program in the Outpatient Alcoholism Unit and Valley Home Care where she provided clinical services in the home.  Ms. Masterson-Kane is currently a partner in Elder Care Options and has a private psychotherapy practice.  She has extensive experience as a lecturer on the role of the caregiver and substance abuse and the family.
 

Patty Hemphill received her Bachelor of Social Work and Certification in Gerontology from Ramapo College and Masters of Social Work from Fordham University.  Ms. Hemphill's previous employment includes The Paterson Coalition for Housing, where she served as coordinator of the Kinship Care Program and provided supportive services to families in a residential program.  Ms. Hemphill is currently employed by Valley Home Care, where she provides clinical services to clients in their own homes.  In addition, Ms. Hemphill is a partner in Elder Care Options and President of Hemphill Consulting.  Ms. Hemphill has experience as a lecturer on the role of the caregiver.
